Local Non-Profit Expanding Capacity to Feed More At-Risk Children in North Texas

[ROANOKE, TX, February 17, 2021] - SOS International Ministries is excited to announce the grand opening of its new warehouse space in Grand Prairie, Texas. Through the generosity of donors on Giving Tuesday 2020, SOS International signed a lease agreement for a 20,000 square foot warehouse, more than doubling their capacity to feed at-risk children in North Texas.

SOS International has distributed food and goods in North Texas for over 10 years; however, the pandemic put these outreaches on a rapid growth trajectory. In 2020, SOS mobilized 6.5 million meals into 75 local care networks (schools, non-profits, community groups and churches) in North Texas’ hardest hit communities.  “ When our donors and partners heard about the need for more warehouse space so that we could keep mobilizing meals, they showed up in a big way.  With a one-day campaign on Giving Tuesday we were able to raise the funds to get a larger warehouse space. The pandemic created a lot of uncertainty for so many families, but it is truly amazing to watch the way it created unprecedented generosity as well. said Christie Anthony, Director of Operations.

As the need for food continues for families in North Texas, SOS International is excited to announce this warehouse expansion, knowing it means more food for hungry children!  At SOS International, we believe that every child matters. Since the beginning of the pandemic we have seen a growth in child hunger across North Texas. Moving into a warehouse double the size of our previous one will give us the opportunity to reach more food-insecure children and their families.  We are excited to see how this warehouse will help tackle the growing need to feed children in our communities.” said Elisha Taleton, Director of Community Outreach.

With the announcement of this significantly larger warehouse space, SOS International is looking forward to the life change that will happen over the course of 2021. SOS is especially thankful to Chad Hennings and the Rubicon Representation family for their help in securing this property. Children in North Texas will be safer because of donors’ generosity and the hard work of Local Care Network Partners. That generosity will mean millions of more meals fed in 2021.
