Thanksgiving Opportunities

1.) Upbring and Single Moms (Homes across DFW)

Did you know that there are thousands of children in Texas that need safe and loving homes? Across the state foster parents are taking in these children to give them a chance at a better life! This Thanksgiving, you could help these parents by donating food and a little of your time. Volunteering to buy and deliver a meal to a foster family would make their Thanksgiving and yours so much brighter!

Date: Whatever you set up with the family you sponsor

Time: Whatever you set up with the family

Description: Sponsor a family for $40, grocery shop, and deliver the groceries to the family's home.

Age Limit: None

2.) Community Storehouse (Keller)

We ALL love a good Thanksgiving meal! The food, the family time, the fun… This Thanksgiving you can help a family experience the same joy you do by volunteering with Community Storehouse. All you need to bring is your smiling face and your strong muscles!

Date: November 20th

Time: 12pm-6pm

Where: Keller United Methodist Church

Description: Thanksgiving Food Distribution; Volunteers are needed to provide hospitality and assist clients with loading boxes to their cars.

3.) Mission Arlington (Arlington)

Volunteering on Thanksgiving is the perfect way to foster your own thankfulness! By volunteering with Mission Arlington, you have the opportunity to bring Thanksgiving right to someone’s door, the day of! They’ll be thankful, and you will be too!

Date: November 23rd (hand out the baskets)

Time: 8am-noon (hand out turkey baskets)

Description: 1. Help pack and prepare turkey baskets prior to Thanksgiving. 2. Show up at Mission Arlington and deliver meals to waiting families on Thanksgiving Day.

Age Limit: None

4.) The NET (Fort Worth)

Sometimes in life we experience hardship. Many of our friends in our own community are experiencing homelessness. When you volunteer with The NET, you can help bring a wonderful Thanksgiving experience to those who would not otherwise have the opportunity. What a great way to lend a helping hand!

Date: November 18th

Time: 10:30am-12:30pm

Description: The NET is putting together a big potluck for their friends experiencing homelessness. You can make food and drop it off, stay for the event, or do both!

Age Limit: None

Christmas Opportunities

1.) Christmas House with Community Storehouse (Keller)

Christmas is a season for giving, and volunteering at the Christmas House is one of the greatest ways to do just that! At Christmas House, you can help parents pick out gifts for their kids and help them get loaded up to take their very Merry Christmas home!

Date: December 20th

Time: 9am-7pm

Where: Heritage Church of Christ, Heritage Trace Pkwy, Keller, TX.

Description: Be a personal shopper, take presents to cars, give out food boxes, etc.

Age Limit: 14 and older

2.) Christmas House Set-Up (Keller)

Setting up a temporary Holiday pop-up shop extravaganza is hard work, but somebody's gotta do it! Why not you? Christmas House set-up is an especially good opportunity for those who like organizing, but that’s not a requirement. :)

Dates: December 18th and 19th

Time: All Day

Where: Heritage Church of Christ, Heritage Trace Pkwy, Keller, TX.

Description: Help set-up toys and clothes to prepare for Christmas House.

Age Limit: None

3.) Giocosa Foster Group

Foster parents work hard, 24/7, 365 days a year! By volunteering with the Giocosa Foster Group, you can bless some of the most selfless people in our community and the kids that they care for!

Date: December 2nd

10 Volunteers Needed

4.) Operation Christmas Child (Dallas)  

We’ve all heard of Operation Christmas Child and their amazing shoeboxes, right?! Well now you can volunteer with them to help get all of those fun little boxes sent all around the world! How cool to know that you helped kids halfway around the world have a very Merry Christmas!

Dates: November 21st-December 16th

Time: Various shifts throughout the day

Description: Inspect and prepare shoeboxes to get them ready to be shipped overseas!

Age Limit: 13 and older

5.) Haiti Meal Packing Day (Colleyville)

Haiti has been hit hard by multiple hurricanes in the recent past. Sadly, there is still much need for recovery in Haiti. You can help pack meals that will be sent to those in need in Haiti!

Date: December 2nd

Time: Various shifts from 8am-4:30pm

Where:Compass Church

Description: Help package 500,000 nutritious, rice-based meals to be shipped to hungry children in Haiti.

Age Limit: 10 and older recommended

6.) Angel Tree Tags

Angel Trees are such a fun way to bless someone at Christmas time. You can select a tree tag that will help you get the gift someone is dreaming of.

Collection dates: November 13th - Monday, December 12th

Description: Buy presents for various non-profits, including at-risk children, foster families, and women trapped in the sex industry.

Age Limit: None

7.) Mission Arlington Christmas Store (Arlington)

No matter what your favorite part of Christmas preparation is, the Mission Arlington Christmas Store pop up shop has the perfect opportunity for you to help! You will help families get all set for the big day!

Date: December 9th-22nd

Time: 10am-6pm

Description: 1. Help people shop, wrap gifts, play with children, stock toys, deliver Christmas trees, repair and deliver bicycles. 2. Donate toys for the toy drive.

Age Limit: None

8.) Christian Community Action Christmas Store- TBD.
