Hunger looks different all over the globe. From starving bodies to deceivingly healthy-looking but malnourished children, the lack of food and proper nutrition is one of the leading contributors to child mortality.

As food insecurity continues to rise globally, so do the vulnerabilities facing at-risk children. But we also see growing opportunities to respond with practical support, trusted relationships, and hope.

Our method of securing at-risk children starts with four key areas: water, food, freedom, and community development.

Water

An estimated 2.2 billion people worldwide lack access to safe drinking water. We work with local communities to provide free and fair access to clean water.

Food

Upwards of 733 million people don’t have enough food to eat today. Every day, 10,000 children die of hunger and related causes. We partner with existing networks to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry.

Freedom

An estimated 49.6 million people are trafficked around the world. We reach human trafficking victims and equip them to walk into freedom.

Community Development

Children in underdeveloped communities are among the most at-risk in the world. We support children’s futures through literacy, education, and vocational training, mentoring, trafficking prevention, and more.

At SOS, we are passionate about food because it’s a simple solution to a larger problem. The lack of food and proper nutrition is one of the leading contributors to child mortality. Lack of food also makes them more vulnerable to trafficking. Providing children with basic necessities makes their world more secure.
