Give Back This Holiday Season

Give Back this Holiday Season

The holiday season is upon us! As you look for ways to celebrate, here are a few creative ideas to gather with your loved ones and make an impact in your community:

1) STOCK THE SHELVES

The holiday season wouldn’t be complete without meals with friends and family! Every time you go to the grocery store, add a few extra items to your cart for a donation. At the end of the week or month, drop them off at a local food pantry. Want to make it a family contribution? Have your kiddos choose an item to help stock the shelves.

2) SHARE/SERVE A MEAL

Gather your family and friends and make your favorite holiday dish or dessert. Not only will it be a fun memory to share for years to come, but you can share it with your local fire station, police station, assisted living homes, or homeless shelter. You can even set up a time to serve these treats to help spread some holiday cheer in the middle of a busy holiday season. Need ideas? SOS staff shared a few must-haves for the holidays. Check them out here.

3) HOST A HOLIDAY DRIVE

Local food pantries and soup kitchens work hard to provide holiday meal items to families in need. Host a neighborhood food drive to help make holiday food boxes for families to share and gather at the table. Click here for a flyer to share on social media or with your family and friends for items to collect.

4) GIVING TUESDAY

Tuesday, November 29, 2022, is a national day to give back. This Giving Tuesday, you can impact the lives of at-risk children and their families by giving the gift of security. Join us as we secure a community of 90 families in Latin America. Learn more here.

Thanks to a generous donor, your #GivingTuesday gift will be matched dollar for dollar! Organize a fundraiser to donate to SOS and have it matched. This is a fun way to give back this holiday season and double the impact of your giving!

5) SHARE FAMILY TRADITIONS

Community is a vital component in securing the at-risk children around you. SOS Staff gathered a few family traditions and activities used to make fun holiday memories. Use them to build community in your space or to add to your memories for generations to come. Share them with neighbors or those who don’t have family nearby to spread more holiday joy! Check out some of our favorites here.

6) SOS VIRTUAL GIVING TREE

Give a gift to an at-risk child through our Virtual Giving Tree! All the toys purchased will go directly to help families in need. This is a great way to make a direct impact on at-risk children. Click here for the full list.
